Across the Globe, COVID-19 has demanded we seek out creative and new ways of working. For many North Carolina Life Sciences employers, hiring plans remain intact with critical roles to staff. To accomplish industry hiring objectives, we must continue to build our talent pipeline and deliver innovative approaches to recruiting, candidate selection, hiring, and on-boarding talent in a safe and healthy way.
In our great state, we have a rich Military presence representing a capable and job ready talent resource. The Military has prepared Veterans and Transitioning Service members with transferable assets to assimilate successfully in to civilian careers within the industry.
To help employers connect with this exceptional Military talent resource, the North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s Veterans Outreach Program and North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME) have teamed up to offer a Virtual Life Sciences Hiring Event to be held June 9, 2020. The Virtual Life Sciences Hiring Event provides participating employers the unique opportunity to expand their talent reach and connect with Transitioning Military Service Members, honorably discharged Veterans, and Military Spouses to fill open positions in their organization; and at NO COST!
We invite you to attend this Virtual Life Sciences Hiring Event by selecting https://nc4melifesciencesvirtualhiringevent.eventbrite.com?discount=LIfeSciencesEmployer and register today!

Q & A Helpful Tips and Program Information:
Who is the North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME)?
North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME) is a comprehensive public-private partnership designed to make NC the number one state for military employment. Established by the Governor in 2015, NC4ME leverages existing workforce development resources and technology to implement an employer-centric strategy that: Educates NC’s business leaders on the value of hiring a military workforce, Shows small businesses and human resource professionals how to hire military personnel, and connects military talent to open jobs, education, and training opportunities in North Carolina. Please visit https://nc4me.org/ or https://nc4me.org/lifesciences/ to learn more!
I’ve attended a NC4ME hiring event in the past, what’s different about this event?
This event is designed to offer the experience of an in-person NC4ME event virtually and is a dedicated hiring event for Life Sciences job roles! The Virtual Hiring event promises to provide participants with the same quality interviews of an in-person Hiring Event via virtual platforms.
Is this event “free” for employers to attend or is there a cost?
There is no charge to participating employers and no charge to candidates for this event. Our mission is to create a pathway to civilian careers in the Life Sciences for honorably discharged Veterans, Service Members in Transition, and Military Spouses.
Will this Virtual Hiring Event be marketed?
Yes, NC4ME in partnership with the NCBiotech Veterans Outreach Program is managing event marketing across all NC Military Installations and Military affiliates.
How do I register our company to attend?
To register, select the link https://nc4melifesciencesvirtualhiringevent.eventbrite.com?discount=LIfeSciencesEmployer, click register, choose Employer Ticket, then select one ticket (this event is free), and follow the prompts. The registration tool will guide you through the process.
How do I submit my job roles for this Virtual Hiring Event?
During the registration process, you will be asked to enter your job roles along with a description of requirements. Employers are encouraged to spell out any industry specific acronyms that may be used in your job descriptions and highlight indirect work experience skillsets. Additionally, including a clear description of desired soft skills will also enhance the matching process for your submitted roles. Keep in mind when recruiting Military talent, greater success is found by focusing on the work to be performed verses trying to match titles.
Will employers have the option to submit job role descriptions after the registration process?
Yes. If employers have job role descriptions to add after registration is already completed, simply submit your job role descriptions to Alex Skelton at askelton@nc4me.org no later than May 20th and Alex will add them for you.
How is the screening process managed?
NC4ME is managing all preliminary pre-screening, candidate selection, and preliminary Interview scheduling processes between employers and job seekers. This process is based on submitted job openings by industry participants and submitted applicant resumes.
What is my commitment as an employer?
Employers will need to:
- Identify a key “Point of Contact” who NC4ME may work with to confirm matches and virtual interview scheduling.
- Respond as timely as possible to the NC4ME to secure a seamless process.
- Company assigned hiring managers will need to allocate appropriate time/resources to review identified and matched candidates for virtual interviews.
- Be available June 9th to facilitate candidate career conversations.
-
- If hiring managers need to schedule matched conversations on a different day, you may work with NC4ME to do so
- Interviews for your organization will be scheduled by NC4ME and you will be able to facilitate a virtual face to face interview or career conversation utilizing the Blackboard Collaborative platform (this platform is free and user-friendly and a link to access along with optional training will be provided by NC4ME).
Will participating companies receive a list of all applicants that apply (regardless if matched by NC4ME or not)?
Yes, participating companies will receive a full list of job applicants for their respective roles.
Why is this a benefit?
- By doing so, participating companies will have access to ALL candidates that applied for their positions and will have the option to add additional candidate interviews that may have not been matched initially by NC4ME.
- Additionally, hiring managers may identify skillsets for job seekers to “other” roles within your organization that were not earmarked for this particular event.
- Bottom line, companies will have full visibility to all applicants to maximize the potential to staff critical roles.
What roles should participating employers include upon registration?
To maximize your experience, companies are encouraged to register job roles you plan to staff over the next 1-6months.
Does my Company’s participation guarantee a job offer?
No, your Company’s participation guarantees that you are recruiting for open positions you plan to staff.
