October 1, 2022
John Bellamy will officially take office as the Management Council President of the Defense Alliance of NC (DANC) effective October 1 and remain the lead executor until September 31, 2023 in a key capacity overseeing the monthly meetings and activities led by the Advising Council to the Executive Board.

John Bellamy served as Executive Assistant for the BRAC Regional Task Force/Fort Bragg Regional Alliance, where he helped prepare an 11-county region surrounding Fort Bragg for economic growth and infrastructure development resulting from the relocation of Army Reserve Command and Army Forces Command Headquarters from Fort McPherson, GA to Fort Bragg, NC. This task force initiated the establishment of the North Carolina Defense Business Association (NCDBA). A merger in 2019 between the NCDBA and the North Carolina Military Foundation formed what we proudly refer to today as the Defense Alliance of North Carolina (DANC).
Bellamy is currently the Assistant Director and Operations Manager for the Center for Defense and Homeland Security (CDHS) at Fayetteville State University (FSU). The CDHS was established in December 2010 and serves as a catalyst in developing the next generation of National Security STEM professionals. John helped establish the CDHS Cybersecurity Academy in 2014, which provides Certification Training in Information Technology and Cybersecurity.
John is a retired Navy Veteran who served as Navy Personnel Officer at Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) Fort Bragg, and Chief Administrator, Navy Recruiting Headquarters Indianapolis.
Executive Board Chair MajGen Mark Brilakis, Marine Corp (Ret) stated that “Bellamy is no stranger to North Carolina, the military, academia and defense business and will bring a great deal of knowledge to the table.”
BG William J. Gothard USA (Ret.) Past President DANC Management Council circa 2021-22 will remain an active member as Past President and plans to assist Bellamy during the initial transition and in a project management role on future endeavors.
