Update on our Cluster Study/Analysis:
This is an exciting time regarding the 2019 Defense Asset Inventory and Target Industry Cluster Analysis project.
Over the last many months, efforts have been made to best identify the top emerging future trends in defense spending matched against the top market areas in our state that align with these trends.
Six (6)such market areas were identified:
- data and knowledge management
- autonomous systems
- human performance
- power
- materials
- advanced manufacturing
The objective is to inform all companies and academic/research entities with ongoing interests in these areas of the findings and through various means to assist them in increasing overall revenue and market share. This effort will be further informed through the efforts of the economic development community across the state.
RTI International is finishing up the study and numerous partners are engaged in discussions regarding execution options. The study is expected to be fully published within a month while the execution phase will be rolled out over the ensuing months. While this type of study was also conducted nearly a decade ago, this will be the first time that this state is also designing strategies to help ensure that economic developers, researchers/academicians, and companies fully benefit from the findings.
The Defense Alliance of North Carolina (DANC) via its Management Council, is leading the execution design phase and there will be significant opportunities for direct member participation. Please stand by to learn more over the coming months.
